EU Releases New Funding as Moldova Advances Toward Membership
The announcement was made Monday during the 10th EU-Moldova Association Council meeting in Brussels, where officials reiterated that Moldova’s future remains firmly anchored in the European Union, according to reports.
The European Commission said the latest financial allocation followed Moldova’s "successful" completion of 18 reforms during the latest assessment period.
With the new payment, Moldova has received approximately €661 million in performance-based funding through the EU Growth Plan Facility.
The meeting also saw the EU and Moldova "strongly" condemn what they described as "increasingly frequent violations of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones and missiles."
The two sides warned that the reported incidents create "a serious risk to the safety of Moldova's population."
The EU also reiterated its "unwavering support" for Moldova’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
